Handmade, gold plated Antidoron bowl for Holy Prosphoron Bread during Orthodox Services.  Embellished with enamel Byzantine Eagles.  Bowl is on a metal standing base.

The bowl is used to hold the leavened blessed unconsecrated bread.   Andidoron bread comes from the remains of the prosphora bread cut during the Orthodox Divine Liturgy.  Ἀντίδωρον means "instead of gifts", "instead of the Eucharistic gifts" - it's given to parishoners as they can not receive the Eucharist gifts, and in lieu of.
